Until now, companies could obtain account verification on Instagram by submitting a request through the app and by linking the account with their Facebook Page.
However, from now on the process changes, and you will need to be a subscriber of the Meta Verified service in order to obtain the verification badge for a business on Instagram.
The Meta Verified service was launched in February 2023 for individual content creator accounts and allows individual Instagram accounts to be verified. Now it is also being expanded with the new service “Meta Verified for Business“.
How to subscribe to Meta Verified for Business
When the service is available in your country, you will be able to access the Meta Verified for Business page to verify your business account on Instagram (or on other Meta platforms, such as Facebook or WhatsApp). You can also do it directly from your Instagram app, in your account settings options.
The cost to sign up for Meta Verified for Business is $21.99 per month in the United States to verify a business account on Instagram (or Facebook) if the purchase is made from the web.
If the subscription is made from a mobile device, the price increases to $27.99 per month. Keep in mind that these prices are per account, so you would have to pay that price for Facebook and that price for Instagram.
The good news is that—unlike for individual users—Meta offers a bundle for companies that want to verify both accounts. In this case, verifying the business page on Facebook and Instagram would cost $34.99 per month.
Cost of verifying a business on Instagram
The cost of verifying a business on Instagram, as we saw above, is not excessive, especially for large corporations and also for SMEs. It is surprising when compared to the current cost of verifying a business on X / Twitter, which is $1,000 per month.
In any case, you will need to pay attention to when the Meta Verified for Business service is officially launched in each country, to know exactly how much it will cost.
You should also keep an eye on the advantages that the Meta Verified for Business service will offer companies, as it should include additional benefits.
For example, when the service was launched for individuals, one of the advantages mentioned was having greater reach for published content. Later, that feature was removed, but even so, what is indisputable is that a verified account on this social network gives the company greater authority. It also makes it clear to users that they are interacting with an official profile.
