Previously, Instagram allowed users to request account verification through an option located within the profile settings. However, this possibility is no longer available on Meta’s social network.
To verify an account on Instagram, it is necessary to be a subscriber of the paid service Meta Verified.
Since the launch in July 2023 of the “Meta Verified” service, the premium version of Facebook and Instagram, the only way to obtain account verification on Instagram is to pay for this subscription service.
One of the advantages of “Meta Verified” is that it provides the owner of a premium account with a blue verification badge (the classic blue tick on social networks) indicating that the account owner’s identity has been confirmed by a government authority.
How to Request Instagram Profile Verification
Therefore, to obtain the verification badge for an Instagram profile, it is necessary and essential to subscribe to the Meta Verified service. This costs 13.99 euros per month if done from the desktop version or 16.99 euros per month if the subscription is made from the Android or iOS apps. The price is unique for each social network, so if you want to subscribe for both Facebook and Instagram, you will need to pay the amount twice.
It should be noted that Meta Verified, for now, is only available for accounts over 18 years old and is not yet available for business accounts, although Meta will launch it soon (its conditions are still unknown).
Once you have subscribed to the Meta Verified service for Instagram, you must go through the mandatory identification process to obtain the verification badge for your Instagram account.
Account Verification Process
-Select a profile. Go to the “Settings” option on Instagram (the process is similar on Facebook) and click on “Accounts Center” and then on “Meta Verified.” If the service is available in your country, you will see the message “Meta Verified is available” under your name and profile photo.
-Choose the payment method. You can select from several available payment methods, where you will receive the monthly charge.
-Verify your identity. To complete the verification process, you must provide an official government-issued photo ID. In addition, you may be asked for a video selfie to confirm your identity before your request for account verification through Meta Verified is approved.
