Google releases the June 2024 Spam Update

Google has launched a new search algorithm update, called the Google June 2024 Spam Update, with the goal of reducing spam and low-quality content in the results it offers to users when using the search engine.

This is a new update aimed at fighting spam following the one carried out in March 2024, which was launched at the same time as a Core Update to its search algorithms.

In this case, the company has confirmed that it is a “regular” spam update and that it has nothing to do with other concepts such as, for example, reputation and authority abuse of web pages, something that was taken into account in the updates three months ago. “We will notify when that happens,” Google stated in a post published on LinkedIn.

Similarly, it also appears that the changes will not affect the company’s link policy, since the Update has not been named “Link Spam Update” as on other occasions. It has simply been called “Spam Update.”

This time, Google has indicated that the Update, which was launched on June 20, will take only one week to complete. The company has committed to posting a notice on the Google Search Status Dashboard when the implementation of the update is complete.

For now, since this is a routine update, Google has not published the specific changes that are affected by the algorithm changes from now on. The company refers to the pages where it details its Spam Policies, but there is currently no update to them.

In any case, Google seeks to eliminate spam content that is manipulating its search results in every possible way. That’s why it is launching a new Spam Update just three months after finishing the previous one.

As usual, the company does not provide detailed information about the changes implemented. Nor has it indicated the percentage of searches affected by the Update.

It has stated, however, that those website administrators who see their content’s reach decrease and experience a loss of visibility after this update should read Google’s Spam Policies to determine where they are violating them and take appropriate action.

It should be noted that Google regularly updates its spam update, and pages affected by it may take months to recover.
