Kingston Digital launches new SSD for data centers and mixed workloads

Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the world’s leading independent manufacturer of memory products, today announced the new DC600M enterprise SSD. The DC600M drive is optimized for mixed workloads with excellent Quality of Service (QoS)1 to ensure latency and IOPS consistency in Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

DC600M is SATA 3.0 storage at 6 Gbps with 3D TLC NAND, ideal for use in high-volume, rack-mounted servers. The drive includes hardware-based power loss protection integrated into the card via power loss capacitors, to protect data against unexpected power failures, reducing the risk of data loss and ensuring the drive successfully restarts on the next system boot. With predictable low latencies across a wide variety of read and write workloads, the DC600M drive is designed for system integrators, hyperscale data centers, and cloud service providers.

“Quality of Service in an enterprise SSD is essential, as data centers and workloads demand stability and low latency with predictable levels of storage performance to meet strict customer SLAs (Service Level Agreements),” said Keith Schimmenti, Enterprise SSD Business Manager at Kingston. “Additionally, the DC600M is a 256-bit AES encrypted drive, making it the optimal storage solution for data centers when combining its enterprise-class reliability and rigorous QoS requirements with Kingston’s legendary sales support.”

The DC600M data center drive is available in capacities of 480GB, 960GB, 1920GB, 3840GB, and 7680GB2.

1SSD Quality of Service (QoS) refers to the consistency and predictability of latency (response time) and IOPS performance (input/output operations per second) while handling a read/write workload. QoS metrics demonstrate that, under a worst-case workload tested over a period of time, the latency and IOPS profiles of an SSD remain within a specific range without unexpected outliers that cause a sudden drop in application performance.

2Part of the capacity indicated on a Flash storage device is used for formatting and other functions, so it is not available for data storage. Therefore, the actual available capacity for data storage is less than indicated on the products. For more information, see Kingston’s Flash Memory Guide at kingston.com/flashguide

3Measurements are taken once the workload has reached a steady state, including all background activities required for normal operation and data reliability.

4Based on 960 GB capacity.

54KB QD=1 random workload based on FIO. Quality of Service is measured as the time it takes for 99.9% of commands to complete the round trip from the host to the drive and back to the host. Typical latency is measured as the time it takes for 99.9% of commands to complete the round trip from the host to the drive and back to the host.

6Total bytes written (TBW) is derived from the JEDEC Enterprise workload (JESD219A).

7Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD).

8Five-year limited warranty based on whichever occurs first: (i) five (5) years from the purchase by the original end user/customer; (ii) when the use of a SATA SSD, as measured by a Kingston implementation of SMART attribute 231, labeled as “SSD Wear Indicator,” reaches the normalized value of one (1), as indicated in Kingston SSD Manager (“KSM”).
